Helm single fin surfboards
Single fin surfing is about feeling. The rider, the wave, the rail and the fin all harmonising together. Trimming and edge control, subtle balance and wave positioning come together for an experience that mirrors the movement and energy of the wave.
If you are used to a tri-fin thruster, a single fin will feel foreign. Generating your own speed is challenging. Instead you have to listen to the wave, feel for the sweet spot, move around the board, use your rail and run smoother lines. A single fin has less drag, the rocker is much flatter, the softer rail through the tail allows you to hold a higher line culminating to create a naturally faster experience. Style becomes smoother and more fluid, turns become unbroken and visually more beautiful. The end result is more pure way of feeling the ocean.
V2 Lithium
After years of dissecting original single fin surfboards from the late sixties and seventies we have tried, tested and fine tuned to produce a board that we believe combines all the best elements from this era.
The boards wide point is forward, 7 foot long, 21.5 inches wide with a thickness that varies to suit the the rider. A very flat rocker through the nose and middle of the board increasing in the tail section. Bottom contour starting from the nose has a raised rail for entry with flat bottom throughout nose and middle sections transitioning into a V in the tail.
Classic Hawaiian dropped rails which gives the board a sleak appearance even on boards that are up to 3 1/4 inches thick. They remain soft until they reach the point behind the fin where they transition to sharp.
The end result is a board paddles well, is manoeuvrable at low and high speeds, holds a high line and doesn’t slip out even in the steepest of waves, has a massive wave range from just half a foot to double overhead or more and is FAST, a true all rounder. Also available as a 6’2” and 6’6” for smaller riders.
We believe all kids should learn to surf on a single fin.
Deluxe
Inspired by Wayne Lynch’s “Evolution” double ender boards from the late sixties, the Deluxe is just so much fun, it’s the type of board that anyone can take out and ride successfully. However its also a super technical board that can keep even the most talented surfer enthralled with its unique caracteristics.
Fast, slow, manoeuvrable and stable depending on how its ridden. The type of board that keeps you thinking about it for hours after every surf.
Seven foot ten inches long, with its wide point way back it has a low rocker profile with a displacement hull through the nose section transitioning to a flat point in the middle and continues into a rolled V throughout the tail. There rails are supper pinched in the nose and tail with a more generous curve through the middle.
Glider
The contours of the V2 stretched, the glider does exactly what it’s name suggests. Get into the wave super early, set a high line and let it flow. Smooth top to bottom riding, fluid turns and arching cutbacks.
Glassed heavily to maintain projection through flat spots and fast as hell, this board loves a point break. The Glider has a great wave range from the the smallest ripples up.
Squirt
This little guy is all about fun, but don’t let its tiny size fool you, it still paddles like steam and glides through flat sections but also comes with the added bonus of tighter arching turns, mighty high speeds with its parallel rails, looseness due to the release from the sting in the tail, but retains all the style and smoothness we have come to love from our single fins. If your a little bit of a trickster this might be the board for you.
